So I do hope the data and all formulas, formatting, etc is not lost. The only thing that gives me a little hope is that when I look in my directory, and put a mouse on a file, I see that it does display some content, sort of a picture. After hitting Open and repair, I get the message that This workbook cannot be opened and repaired because it is corrupt. But today, after a whole day of working on it, I have saved it and closed it, and then tried to reopen and got a message that 'Excel couldn't open the file because some content is unreadable.
I did add a few interesting features there, and it all worked nicely. I have created a huge file, and worked on it for two weeks, as I am learning excel. Two mac.com addresses - I have rebooted - I have cleared my keychain - I have double checked the settings - checked for latest updates to Mac OS X and Office - I have logged into the accounts via the web and one of them via Mac Mail - but in Outlook (Office 2011) - both are giving errors as if they cannot be accessed using that software. If neither option is available, follow the additional steps provided in the pop-up window that appeared after you chose Check for Updates. Once it has opened, click Continue and it will search for all versions of Office that are installed. Choose Install Updates or Check for Updates. I have worked for two weeks on a file, and all went perfect, until today. Open any Office 2010 application, such as Word 2010 and create a document.
